Right in the heart of PEI is where you’ll find the sleepy town of Kensington and not too far away is the wonderful Rogers Island Getaway B&B.
This B&B boasts a prime location for exploring PEI whether you’re hoping to follow the trail of Anne of Green Gables, spend your time swimming in world-class beaches in Cavendish, head to Charlottetown for a history lesson, or venture along one of the many scenic roads across the island.
What you’ll find at the Rogers Island Getaway B&B is a quaint and quiet oasis that’s far enough from the busy tourist crowds to allow you to relax after a long day of traveling but still close enough to everything that you won’t feel like you’re missing out.
My girlfriend and I spent two nights at the B&B and the only complaint I have is that I wasn’t able to stay longer!
The hostess, Elaine, is a wonderful lady that constantly strives to ensure you’re having a good time and who is full of helpful information that’s bound to make your trip to PEI a success.
In this post I want to share with you guys the experience that I had during my stay at the Rogers Island B&B so that you can get a better idea of why I would definitely recommend it if you’re planning a trip to PEI.
The Rogers Island Getaway B&B near Kensington, PEI
Prince Edward Island is full of wonderful bed and breakfasts and this is one of the many top rated B&B’s that you’ll find on the island.
The best thing about it is that you’re able to enjoy a personal level of service from the hostess Elaine and arriving at this B&B is more like your visiting your parents house or staying with family rather than showing up somewhere where you’re not likely to feel as welcome.
Bed and breakfasts provide a much more personal experience for travelers and I definitely found this to be the case here at the Rogers Island Getaway B&B.
The B&B is located in a recently renovated historical farm house that’s full of charm and that presents a cozy atmosphere.
Right after walking through the front door you’ll be able to quickly notice all of the eye-catching interior design details as well as the solid level of craftsmanship that tends to be quite uncommon in homes of this age.
The house was built in 1916 by a local family and these days features all of the modern amenities that you would need for a short-term stay in PEI.
On the ground level there are two different seating areas where you can relax after a long day of exploring the surroundings or just mingle with the other guests while enjoying a nice glass of wine.
Also on the main floor is where you’ll find the kitchen and dining room where breakfast is served every morning.
All of the bedrooms are on the second level of the building and there are three different rooms that you can choose from depending on your preferences and budget.
The property that the B&B is located on is quite stunning as well with plenty of options for outdoor seating where you can take in the beautiful PEI sunset or just get some fresh air with a short walk around the property.
You’re definitely going to want to make sure that you wake up on time for breakfast as Elaine has the mind of a great chef when it comes to what she’s capable of preparing in her kitchen and after one of her breakfasts you’re going to leave the table completely stuffed with delicious food and full of plenty of energy for the rest of your day.
My Stay at the Rogers Island Getaway B&B
At the B&B there are three different rooms to choose from and my girlfriend and I spent our time in the Kenny and Betty room.
This was the smallest room at the B&B but it came equipped with everything we needed during our stay and as we were spending most of the time exploring PEI we really didn’t much space anyways.
The room featured two twin beds, a small seating area with a table and chairs, a dresser, a small TV mounted on the wall, and a fairly sized bathroom.
Immediately after stepping into the room I felt very much at home and the soothing colors as well as the quaint design really helped to add a lot of character and charm to the room itself.
There was a small window on the wall that let in plenty of natural light and this really helped the room to feel a lot bigger than it was.
The beds were very comfortable and although I wasn’t able to sleep right beside my girlfriend I had one of the best nights of sleep on my entire three-week Maritimes trip thanks to how cozy and comfortable the bed was.
We didn’t use the television at all and I found the wifi to work quite well in the bedroom although I had a much better connection on the main floor.
Overall, the room was the perfect size for two people for a short-term stay and came with everything you would need to feel right at home.
While much of the property maintains a more historic interior design appearance the bathroom in the room was very modern and perfectly equipped.
The sink featured a very unique design, I actually haven’t ever used a sink like the one we had in the bathroom before, and although the space was fairly small the layout was just perfect for using anything you would need inside.
There was a nice view from the bathroom window of the field beside the property and the small window also let in plenty of natural light which my girlfriend appreciated for getting ready in the morning.
I really liked the stand up shower and I definitely appreciated all of the cozy towels and amenities that were left behind for us to use.
Depending on which of the rooms that you choose rates start at either $140 or $155 per night.
Keep in mind that this includes a wonderful gourmet breakfast each morning.
Given the price of nearby B&Bs, hotels, and even AirBnb’s I found this to be quite reasonable and rather competitive especially when you consider the higher value that you’re able to enjoy when you’re staying here.
One of my favorite things about the Rogers Island Getaway B&B was its prime location right in the heart of PEI.
As I already mentioned, the small town of Kensington is a short 5 minute drive away and here you’ll find a grocery store, dining options, and a gas station.
Charlottetown, the historic capital of the province, is less than 40 minutes away and you can easily reach the nearby towns of Summerside and Cavendish in under 15 to 20 minutes.
The Confederation Bridge where you enter the island from is about a 25 to 30 minute drive away.
The great location makes it easy to explore most of PEI and it’s great being so close to the B&B regardless of where you’re travelling because you never have far to go after a long day of exploring or driving around the island.
I also really loved how quiet the property was at night and even late in the afternoon you can walk along the road without having to worry about local traffic at all.
When it comes to finding accommodation in PEI I would definitely recommend checking out the Rogers Island Getaway B&B.
The location is amazing, the property is beautiful, the rooms are spacious, cozy, and well-equipped for a short-term stay, and everything about the places simply charming and majestic.
This B&B was one of the best places I stayed at during my more than 3 week trip across the maritimes and the next time I visit PEI it’s definitely where I’m going to stay.
