In the heart of Prince Edward Island is where you’ll find the sleepy small town of Kensington. Not too far away is the wonderful Rogers Island Getaway B&B.
This lovely bed and breakfast offers a great location for exploring Central PEI.
It’s perfect if you’re hoping to follow the trail of Anne of Green Gables or take advantage of the beautiful beaches in nearby Cavendish.
Just a short drive away is the capital, Charlottetown. Alternatively, you can spend your days exploring the many scenic roads across the island.
What you’ll find at the Rogers Island Getaway B&B is a quaint and quiet oasis. It’s far from the busy tourist crowds but still close enough so you won’t feel like you’re missing out.
During my visit to PEI I spent 2 nights at the B&B. The only complaint I have is that I wasn’t able to stay longer!
In this post I want to share with you guys the experience that I had at the Rogers Island B&B. This way you can get a better idea of what to expect if you’re planning to stay here. You’ll also see why it’s such a great place to stay in PEI!
The Rogers Island Getaway B&B near Kensington, PEI
There are a number of bed and breakfasts in Prince Edward Island. The island seems full of them – there are so many different ones to choose from!
Rogers Island is rated as one of the best B&B’s in PEI and this means that you can expect a high standard of service when you’re staying here.
Bed and breakfasts provide a more personal experience for travelers compared to hotels. This is definitely the case here at the Rogers Island Getaway B&B.
The B&B is located in a recently renovated historical farm house. It’s full of charm and presents a cozy atmosphere.
Right after walking through the front door you’ll be stunned by the interior design details. I loved the solid level of craftsmanship that tends to be quite uncommon in homes of this age.
The house was built in 1916 by a local family. Today it features all of the modern amenities that you would need for a short-term stay in PEI.
On the ground level there are two different seating areas. Here you can relax after a long day of exploring the surroundings or just mingle with the other guests while enjoying a nice glass of wine.
Also on the main floor is where you’ll find the kitchen and dining room. This is where breakfast is served every morning.
All of the bedrooms are on the second level of the building. There are three different rooms that you can choose from depending on your preferences and budget.
The outdoor property is stunning. During the warm weather you can enjoy outdoor seating. Take in the beautiful PEI sunset or just get some fresh air with a short walk around the property.
Make sure that you wake up on time for breakfast as Elaine has the mind of a great chef. It’s surprising what she’s capable of preparing in her kitchen. You’re going to leave the table completely stuffed with delicious food – the best way to start your day!
My Stay at the Rogers Island Getaway B&B
At the B&B there are three different rooms to choose from. My girlfriend and I spent our time in the Kenny and Betty room.
This is the smallest room at the B&B. Despite its size it came equipped with everything we needed during our stay. As we were spending most of the time exploring PEI we didn’t much space anyways.
The room featured two twin beds and a small seating area. Additionally, there was a dresser, wall-mounted TV, and access to a mid-size bathroom.
After stepping into the room I felt very much at home, The soothing colors as well as the quaint design add a lot of character and charm.
A small window on the wall let in plenty of natural light. This helped the room to feel bigger than it was.
The beds were comfortable and I had one of the best nights of sleep on my entire three-week Maritimes trip thanks to how cozy and comfortable the bed was.
We didn’t use the television at all. I found the wifi to work quite well in the bedroom although I had a much better connection on the main floor.
Overall, the room was the perfect size for two people for a short-term stay. It came with everything you would need to feel right at home.
While much of the property maintains a traditional interior design the bathroom in the room was modern and perfectly equipped.
Although the space was small the layout was just perfect for using anything you would need inside.
There was a nice view from the bathroom window of the field beside the property. The small window also let in plenty of natural light which my girlfriend appreciated for getting ready in the morning.
The stand up shower is a great feature along with all of the cozy towels and amenities.
Rates start at either $140 or $155 per night depending on the room.
Keep in mind that this includes a wonderful gourmet breakfast each morning.
Given the price of nearby B&Bs, hotels, and even AirBnb’s this rate is reasonable and rather competitive. There are limited options in the area that provide a better value or higher quality of service.
The Rogers Island Getaway B&B boasts a prime location right in the heart of PEI.
The small town of Kensington is 5-minutes away by car. Here you’ll find a grocery store, dining options, and a gas station.
Charlottetown, the historic capital of the province, is less than 40 minutes away You can reach the nearby towns of Summerside and Cavendish in 20 minutes or less.
The Confederation Bridge where you enter the island from is 25 to 30 minutes away.
The great location makes it easy to explore most of PEI. You’re never too far away after a long day of exploring and driving around the island.
The property is quiet, peaceful, and secluded. You can walk around in the late afternoon or early evening without having to worry about local traffic. There are few places where you can enjoy a more relaxing experience!
When it comes to finding accommodation in PEI you’ll definitely want to check out the Rogers Island Getaway B&B.
The location is amazing, the property is beautiful, and the rooms are well-equipped for a short-term stay.
Everything about the place is charming and majestic.
